With the beautiful hot weather we've had recently I wanted to talk about the importance of staying protected and hydrated in the sunshine. We've all has sunburn, we've all felt a little light headed after realising the only drink we've had all day was that morning coffee and some of us might of felt a bit worse for wear after a day in the heat.
I love the smell of suncream, it takes me straight back to all my favourite summer holidays. I do not like, however, the stickiness of suncream - that tacky feeling that lingers all day and I've always found that Garnier's Ambre Solaire range is the best. I picked up Factor 30 from the Light & Silky range and a travel size Factor 50 for my face and for my scar on my wrist. I recently learnt how important it is to cover new scars when exposing them to sunlight. Your scar tissue will tan, but unlike your skin it will not fade, so make sure you cover up any new scars that will be in the sunshine this summer.
Don't forget to protect your hair too, especially if it's been coloured. I love this Phyto Plage Protective Sun Veil, it's a spray oil. It smells delicious and is easy to chuck in your bag to top up throughout the day, especially after swimming!
I definitely do not drink enough water! I use an app to try and track my water intake and keep it high, but if I'm honest I go through phases with it. One of the ways I try to combat this is making detox water, to give the water a little bit more taste. I used mint and lime here, but you can use absolutely anything really - strawberries, lemon, raspberries, blackberries, rosemary, anything.
I know this will be nothing new, but it's so important that I just wanted to pop up a little reminder on here.
What have you been up to in the sunshine recently? :)

When you spend the majority of your time living in the city, bouts of time in the country side are a very welcomed thing. It can get very hectic and fast paced in the city, I love a bit of time out on the beach every now and then whilst I'm there, one of the things I love most about Brighton. Before I headed back I wanted to fit in a nice countryside walk, to stretch my legs, fill my lungs with fresh air and snap some photos. I've mentioned before how much I miss trees whilst I'm away from home and it's still so true, especially from Winter to Spring and Summer to Autumn, when you see the biggest and most beautiful changes. I wanted to share some of my photos, wearing my new super snuggly coat from Primark (fur lining is a DREAM) & taking in my last little bit of country air on a dog walk in Ashdown Forrest.
Autumn is home to some of my favourite colour combinations. They all scream autumn to me; rusty reds, burnt oranges, deep greens, subtle yellows and soft browns.
Every time I come home the seasons seem to have changed even more, there seems to be a drastic change every time! Living by the seaside, I don't tend to see the seasons changing as much as I do at home. I miss seeing forests of leaves change colour, crunchy leaves covering the ground, frost on deep green blades of grass and the orangey glow of the sun on autumn trees.
I knew I had to capture the moment and savour it whilst at home.
I took my camera out on a bitterly cold afternoon, in between rain showers, to snap some autumn blooms, colour changing leaves and temperamental skies.

Sitting on my balcony I noticed a vibrant orange glow on the houses opposite.
Nothing is better than the sunset in Brighton!
I grabbed my camera and headed straight down to the sea front for some photo taking and quiet time.
I took photos of every moment of the sunset, listened to the crashing waves, watched the sun glitter on the sea and just took the time out to think.
We all get so caught up in city lives, the hustle and bustle of every day life sometimes we need a moment out to just think.
Or not think. Time to just do... nothing.
Go and try it some time, it is very therapeutic.
xxxxx
